Agent Alert: Covered California allows special enrollment period
Consumers can now enroll through June 30 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, they may be subject to months’ worth of penalty. As a reminder, regardless of when consumers plan select, they must still effectuate their plan by paying their binder payment timely, per their selected carrier’s rules. Reference the chart below for specific dates and whether consumers would be subject to the tax penalty for continuous months without coverage.
Paying online is the fastest and easiest way to effectuate coverage, and ALL health carriers offer this option. Encourage your clients to “Pay Now” using the “Pay For Health Plan” link at checkout, or call their carrier directly to Pay by Phone.
Please Note: COVID-19 cannot be used as a QLE to switch plans unless there’s another Report a Change to be made (such as a change in income due to being laid off as a result of COVID-19).
