Cigna + Oscar and California Choice Updates

Cigna + Oscar shared updates on Local Plus Expansion and Cigna Open Access Plus. They also shared the top selling plans in California.

Local Plus Expansion
As of April 1, 2022, employees who reside outside of California are now eligible to enroll in Cigna + Oscar LocalPlus® plans through CalChoice, as long as they live in one of the below service areas: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, Mississippi, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington)

RealAge Assessment

Health Net is notifying Employer Group Members about a new Wellness Platform from Sharecare by email. Health Net’s goal is to motivate members to register with ShareCare and take their RealAge Assessment in order to help them live their healthiest life possible.

 

The RealAge Test is a health assessment tool. It looks at your healthy behaviors and calculates how your body is aging. Click here to create your Sharecare account and take the RealAge Test.

INDIVIDUAL UPDATES

Individual Special Enrollment

The open enrollment period isn’t until fall, but clients may be eligible for health coverage during the special enrollment period if they have a qualifying life event. For most qualifying life events, you have 60 days from the date of the qualifying event to enroll in a health plan.

Through Covered California, you will be able to compare quality health insurance plans from private brand-name companies. Financial help may be available to your client’s household, which lowers the monthly premium for coverage. The amount of financial help is based on income, household size, the age of people needing coverage, and where you live.

Remember: In the State of California, having health insurance for the entire year is the law. If you don’t have it, you may have to pay a penalty, unless you qualify for an exemption.

California Bill Would Require Vaccines For All Employees

California could mandate that all businesses require their employees and independent contractors to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Employees or contractors who qualify for medical or religious exemptions would have to be regularly tested under a planned amendment to the bill. Click here to read more.

 

Agencies Issue Additional Guidance on OTC COVID-19 Tests
