Aetna Announces Rate Reductions and Bonus Promotion

Aetna announces rate reductions and a broker bonus promotion for small groups for Q3. The bonus promotion applies to new business sales with 1 to 100 eligible employees. Earn $50 for each new enrolled employee up to 74 employees, and $100 per employee if you sell to 75 or more total employees. This offer is effective from July 1, 2019 through December 1, 2019. Blue Shield Announces Extended Relaxed Participation Requirements

Blue Shield announced that they’ve extended their 25% relaxed participation requirements for small business to December 31, 2019. The underwriting participation requirements for groups with five or more enrolled employees is now just 25% for any medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.

As a reminder, Blue Shield is also running a separate promotion for Trio-only membership for groups of 1 to 100 eligible employees. This means that you can enroll as little as one single member, when selecting ‘Trio only’ plans on the Master Group application.

Health Net Lowers Participation Percentages for Several Networks

Health Net announces its latest SBG Underwriting promotion, which lowers participation percentages for HMO and Salud HMO y Más Network.

You can now sell HMO with 6 active subscribers and Salud HMO y Más Network with 2 active subscribers. Additionally, small business groups can mix and match any plans that come with the Salud HMO y Más Network. Both offers expire December 31, 2019.

Kaiser to Launch Thrive Local, a New Local Care Network

Kaiser Permanente announces that it will soon launch a new care network, called Thrive Local. Thrive Local is a system that connects members to community services that address their social needs, such as food insecurity and housing instability . The network will be integrated into Kaiser’s electronic health record and will be rolled out regionally this summer. Oscar Announces Two New Broker Promotions

Oscar announces two new broker bonus promotions for new groups for effective dates from June 1, 2019 through December 15, 2019. Earn up $75 per enrolled employee for new groups (with a minimum of four enrolled employees). The larger the group, the bigger the bonus! Here’s how it works:

Oscar is also offering a First Case Bonus, which earns you an additional bonus for your first case (of four or more enrolled employees) through December 15, 2019.

Deductibles for Health Plans Nearly Quadruple, Causing Negative Impact on Patients’ Care

The Los Angeles Times partnered with Kaiser Family Foundation to conduct a comprehensive examination of job-based health plans in the Unites States. They found that within the past 12 years, annual deductibles for job-based health plans have nearly quadrupled. The average deductible for job-based health plans was $379 in 2006, but in 2018, that number ballooned to $1350.
